The birds are chirping

I had a pretty productive day. I took the morning easy. Talked to the boyfriend for a couple of hours, took a nap, did a load of laundry, changed the sheets on my bed, and generally just relaxed. Left for school around noon, sat through 3 hours of class, then spied on small children for an hour for research purposes. After that I walked to the library and spent 3 hours there doing research for another paper. So I spent about 7 hours at school today. Not a bad day. I'm hoping to do dishes and some more homework before bed tonight.

I'm hoping that my roommate goes away for the weekend. I'd love a chance to just get homework done without hearing loud music all the time. Be nice to be able to relax and just talk it a bit easy. I have two papers and two tests next week. Probably some more stuff too, but finishing my todo list is on my todo list and I haven't gotten that far yet. Isn't life fun sometimes?

I read a book in the library today about women in Iran. It's a pretty recent book too, published in 2002. It looked at the women of Iran from a different perspective, offering both sides of a story. Women have some built in protections, but they are few and if they don't use them, they're in trouble. Like women get to put this thing into their wedding contracts that says at any point in time they may demand a certain (agreed upon amount) of whatever from their husband and he has to pay up. Modern women who think they're being 'bought' and don't put in a large enough amount lose the ability to control their husbands. In exchange for giving up that award they can win the right to keep their kids after a divorce or any number of other things. More girls than boys attend university in Iran too. I learned a LOT of facts that I'll probably be using in my paper that's due on Monday. Weee... I can look forward to a weekend of paper writing... joy?
