Peter is here!

Well, we picked up Peter from the airport this evening. He is SOOOO tired. It's almost funny. After the airport we realized that there were no directions home. The directions were printed and placed into the car, from there we have no idea what happened to them. It's still quite hot and humid outside. I'm tired and ready for bed. I have third shower of the evening tonight though. I've borrowed my roommate's mattress for Peter.

Visiting my parents' was pretty uneventful. We helped move lots of books and a few pieces of furniture. Mostly we just took it easy. Tomorrow we're going to go shopping with Peter, plan out our trip, and hopefully hit the bars in the evening. Maybe go out to dinner too, we'll see. Right now I think I might go make up some icecream and perhaps watch some TV before my shower.

Wonderful Weekend

Somehow, Amazingly, my family did not completely scare David away. Although he only met 7 of my mom's 8 siblings and didn't meet my Nana. I think it was quite enough! It was a wonderful weekend. We got to see lots of Yosemite, see more of my family than I've seen in a long time, and spend lots of time with David. It was a really wonderful weekend. I'd say more about it, but I should be getting ready for work. If you're curious about the trip, I point you towards Fahle's Fantastic Blog to the right. It does require that you can read Swedish though. Well, I'm pointing you towards it based on the idea that he'll probably write an entry in the next couple of days.

Yosemite here we come!

So tomorrow morning we'll be leaving for Yosemite. Actually, we're staying at a motel in Oakhurst. I'm glad to be fleeing the really hot Chico weather. The high's have been above 100 degrees all week. Even David's usual happiness at warm and sunny weather has melted. We're going to delay our departure time by about an hour so that David can watch the Sweden soccer match. I feel a bit bad for David though. He didn't get to do anything of interest on Midsummer. It's such a big holiday back in Sweden and here there was nothing. I worked and when I came home David and I watched some TV. He left the house to buy some milk. I'm afraid that was the most excitement I provided him on his Midsummer's Eve. Hopefully this weekend in Yosemite will be nice. It's supposed to be a bit cooler there. Oakhurst isn't that much cooler than Chico, but Yosemite Valley is supposed to be much cooler. www.weather.com is your friend! If anyone is curious about the chico weather, put in 95926 into the top box. Check out the monthly forecast and see the observed high's and lows. You can even change it to 'metric' or C temperatures at the bottom if F doesn't make much sense to you.

I have a 5 hour drive tomorrow and I'm still wide awake. David is going to do his first bit of driving in the states. He says that turning right on red lights is BAD. I think his reactions are entertaining. I'm a bad person. He complains of his weight, I offer him icecream. American food combined with lots of energy destroying heat seems to make him complain at my bathroom scale. I should hide it again! Vacations are for eating and snacking and resting and enjoying! It's hard to even get up the energy to go for short walks in this heat! I try to spend as little time outside as possible. I drive pretty much everywhere except work right now. I bike there to get the trip over with as quickly as possible.

The next week is going to be busy. My Grandfather gets married on Monday morning. After the wedding we're going to drive back to Chico. Tuesday will be my last day of work. I can't remember if Peter arrives on Thursday or Friday. I'm thinking Thursday. If so then we'll be driving to my parents' place Wednesday morning/afternoon. That way it will be a bit of a shorter trip to the airport to pick up Peter. Thursday we'll drive back to Chico and get home hopefully before it's completely dark. This requires me to NOT get lost on the way home again. Friday Peter will be here. He might be a bit jet lagged. Thinking to spend the day planning where we're going and what we're doing and maybe in the evening hit the bars. After that I have NO idea what next. But traveling time will be soon!

I hope everyone in and out of Sweden had a nice midsummers! And I've changed my comments again so that anyone who does the word verification can comment in the blog, not just registered users. Have fun peoples!

Not a good blogger

I can't really say that things have been busy here as my excuse for not writing. Yesterday's "adventure" was going and getting frozen yogurt and icecream. We've been playing lots of San Andreas and just taking it easy. Tonight we're going to go to Thursday night market in town.

This weekend we're going to drive to Yosemite, it should be entertaining. I need to find time somewhere to start packing a bag to send David home with. But I'm a bit attached to many of the things that I should send! Eek! Whatever should I do! Ok, so I'll just stop being a dork and wait a bit, but still, acting like a lunatic is more fun.

I'll really try to update this more. I don't think my readers know anything about what I've been up to lately!

morning...

I'm not quite awake yet, but I'm going to try to get a blog entry done before work anyways. This weekend has been fun. Friday night we went out as planned. Saturday we did lots of sleeping and we drove to Paradise for lunch. There we both had their special enchiladas. The enchiladas there are cool because they have raisins and almonds in them. I'm betting I could make my enchiladas with raisins too.

On Sunday we mostly stayed around the apartment. We did a lot of shopping in the morning and evening too. I bought all sorts of cool new things. Weee! I bet I'll still never have a shirt I want to wear though! Oh, and David got some new clothes too. A couple new shirts, and some new pants.

Today starts my last whole week of work. Next week I have like one or two days total that I work. My boss is also on vacation next week, so I might actually get out of the office when I'm supposed to. Besides working I'm not really sure what the plans are for this week. There's a BBQ with my parents on Tuesday evening. Wednesday and Thursday we might be at Lake Davis. I feel like there are so many more meals I want to eat and so few meals left with David. Although I guess he'll be here for a couple more weeks.

Busy!

This week has just flown by. David is here safe and sound. We got back to my place late Tuesday night. Wednesday morning I dragged him with me to the middle of nowhere on a business trip. We got back just before dinner yesterday. Today I'm going to work 5 hours or so. This afternoon there are thoughts of perhaps going to walmart or the mall or any one of the other 100 shops out in that area. This evening we're going to go meet one of my co-workers at a bar in town. Happy hour is from 8-9 and apparently everything is half off then. This should be interesting. I'm not expecting that we'll do much on Saturday. Sunday perhaps we could do some more shopping in town and just generally take it a bit easy.

I've introduced David to all sorts of new things. He's had eggos, done a couple of trips to the grocery store, had pizza, been alcohol shopping, etc. I made him sit in the middle of nowhere for 2 days and he's even gotten a California sunburn. I gave myself one too. I was wearing sunscreen! I really was! I just missed the back of my neck and apparently I need to remember to reapply the stuff to my face more often. David's face is bright red too. He has little white lines where his glasses are supposed to go.

Up at the lake we got to see some cool stuff. They stocked the lake. They brought in 4 tank cars full of fish and dumped them in. David has some cool pictures and videos of it. 17,000 fish were dumped into that little lake yesterday. We watched the birds go nuts. It was fun.

I'll try to remember to keep this thing updated!

Tomorrow is the big day!

I have soooo much to do before David arrives tomorrow evening! I have to work a half day, and then drive to my parents' place. When I'm there I have a bunch of things to do. I have to get two pairs of pants hemmed, unload a bunch of things on my mom, get my car checked, get my comforters cleaned, and buy my dad a father's day present.

And David arrives tomorrow! 36 hours!

Progress!

Well, the floor of my room is clean enough to be vacuumed now! So my list of things to do for today includes:
vacuum bedroom
Wipe off kitchen counters
Sweep kitchen floor
Go buy some wood polish and see if that'll remove soap scum
Wash towels
Wash sheets
Pack for trip tomorrow
and maybe make and eat food

I probably should make sure David has all the phone numbers and such that he needs as well!

I organized my closet yesterday and emptied out one of my plastic things with drawers. Going to take the plastic thing home, gives me a bit more room in my room!

The Gap Girls

Those girls at The Gap really have too much patience! They spent two hours with me trying to find jeans that fit. We'd find a pair that would fit in the waist, but then they couldn't find the length. They were just wonderful. I'm now like 130 dollars poorer, but I now own 3 pairs of jeans. I also have a gap card. They gave me 15% off of the purchase for getting one.

I really needed these jeans. I discovered a hole in my last pair of comfy jeans this morning.

And I bought Zoo Tycoon. Harvest Moon has been delayed until August.

David will be here on TUESDAY! Ok. Leftover time.

Energy!

For once I had energy by the time I got home! I've cleaned the living room, top to bottom. It's been dusted, picked up, and vacuumed! I want to finish the kitchen today as well. I realized today... I don't think I've been food shopping since I graduated.

My boss followed me home today so that he could bring me boxes. I have lots of boxes now! I was going to take my bike home, then drive back to work to get the boxes. My boss offered to bring them to my place though. He only beat me home by like 2 minutes and he was driving while I was biking.

My poor sunburned nose has started to peel today. I was so hoping that it would be a minor sunburn and not peel. No luck for me.

Oh, I've also finally got around to running my clothes through the dryer. I've been running them through a rinse cycle in the mornings for the last couple of days on my way to work. I haven't been waking up early enough to get my clothes dried before work and in the evenings I'm too tired to bother.

All this talk of cleaning has killed my cleaning energy... we'll see if I acquire the energy to clean anything else before bed or not. It's 7:30 already.

Work work work!

I could have sworn I posted a blog entry last night. It's very possible that I was just so tired by the time that I got home that I didn't write one. I woke up this morning to see if anyone commented... and I hadn't written an entry! Hehe! I was so tired when I got home last night that I didn't even check my email or make dinner. I was at work 8am to 6pm yesterday. I took a type of half hour lunch. I sat there and ate while listening to a presentation. Boss is taking us to lunch today and tomorrow, so it's ok that I didn't make dinner last night. He said I could come in to work an hour late if I wanted too. I do! I only went through 4 advils at work yesterday. (Hurt to walk a bit.)

Ow ow ow

I look like I've acquired some weird pocks. The bug bites are so scary looking! On the bright side, the 22 dollars I spent on treating them I'm going to get paid back for.

David will be here in a week. I have sooo much to do. Like maybe get rid of these sores so that I can shave before he comes. *wishes her sores away*

I'm SOOO glad to be done with that trip. I think I should write apology letters to everyone I've forced to listen to me go on and on about David. I learned more about Gilbert... my co-workers boyfriend than I ever cared about. That girl was odd. Always too cold, didn't like the AC, nothing she bought tasted good, etc. She whined to me that the pit toilet didn't have a sink so she could wash her hands after going to the bathroom. It's a pit toilet... if it had running water, it'd be a flushing toilet.

Anyways, I just took a naproxen sodium tablet. I'm going to drink a big glass of water before heading to bed. I bet these things aren't available without a prescription in Sweden!

Saturday's Post

A slow day... unless you're a bug

I'm writing this without internet before 7am on Saturday morning. I've been awake for the past 2 hours. Last night when whining about a mosquito bite, I discovered that I had these red marks on my skin. One on my stomach, three on my legs. Some weird red dots that bled enough that my clothes had blood stains. I asked one of the fishermen this morning what would be biting me, apparently Buffalo Gnats. BLEH! At least I know I'm not suffering some weird disease now though, and to beware of flying insects. He said they itch like crazy, thankfully mine haven't started to itch yet. I have at least another three hours out here before I go rescue Margaret, my coworker, from her boat ramp. We're going to do 4 morning hours and 4 evening hours. I need a nap. 5am was way too early to get up this morning!

Grades Posted

Grades were posted. I passed all of my classes. I did get one A- though. But this means that I officially graduated. Woohoo! I won't feel completely happy until I have my degree in hand though. Tomorrow I leave for Lake Davis. We'll have a kitchenette in the room. I'm a bit confused what that means. My apartment is still a mess. I didn't get any cleaning done although I did manage to drop more random objects on the floor of various rooms.

Maybe I can spend this weekend working on my Swedish. I only have a couple more months to get it as good as possible. I want to have my Swedish improved before I make the Big Move.

Oh, and David will be here in 11 days. I have SOOO much to do before then! Eek! (I think he has a ton to do before then too.)

Business trip

I'll be going away to Lake Davis this weekend. Leaving Friday morning and returning Sunday night. It's annoying because it takes away from my weekend time, which is one of the few times I can spend a long time talking to David. I need the money a bit too much to complain though. I'll work an extra 20 hours and get all my food paid for.

I cleaned a bit today. Scrubbed the toilet, polished the mirror, and cleaned my half of the counter and my sink in the bathroom. Maybe if I spend half an hour a day (or an hour) cleaning from now until when David gets here... this place will actually look respectable. (Right...) Tonight I have a goal to take the trash out, vacuum, make dinner, and maybe start cleaning out this set of plastic drawers I have next to me.

I was hoping to get enough pieces of eight this weekend to buy the house I've been wanting, but with going out of town, it isn't looking likely. I still have 3000 poe to go! Bleh!

Oh, and I'm thinking about buying another video game next week. I really would like to have Harvest Moon for my DS. I've gotten bored of Animal Crossing, haven't played since before I graduated. I might play it this weekend though. I'll be out at the lake with no homework to do!
